    COLLABORATION

Veganism is about nonviolence.

It is about not engaging in harm to other sentient beings; to oneself; and to the environment upon which all beings depend for life. In my view, the animal rights movement is, at its core, a movement about ending violence to all sentient beings. It is a movement that seeks fundamental justice for all. It is an emerging peace movement that does not stop at the arbitrary line that separates humans from non-humans.

Our lives begin to end...

...the day we become silent about things that matter.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.King-edited.jpg

I am not well-versed in theory, but in my view, the cow deserves her life.

As does the ram. As does the ladybug. As does the elephant. As do the fish, and the dog and the bee; as do other sentient beings. I will always be in favor of veganism as a minimum because I believe that sentient beings have a right not to be used as someone else's property. They ask us to be brave for them, to be clear for them, and I see no other acceptable choice but to advocate veganism. If these statements make me a fundamentalist, then I will sew a scarlet F on my jacket so that all may know I'm fundamentally in favor of nonviolence; may they bury me in it so that all will know where I stood.

There is something about veganism that is not easy...

but the difficulty is not inherent in veganism, but in our culture.

I continue to be amazed by our bodies' ability for self-repair.

Our bodies want to be healthy, if we would just let them. That’s what these new research articles are showing: Even after years of beating yourself up with a horrible diet, your body can reverse the damage, open back up the arteries—even reverse the progression of some cancers. Amazing! So it's never too late to start exercising, never too late to stop smoking and never too late to start eating healthier.

Non-violence leads to the highest ethics...

...which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.

If you don't take care of this the most magnificent machine that you will ever be given...

...where are you going to live?

OCPA OVERVIEW

Orange County People for Animals is a Southern California-based 501(c)3 non-profit animal advocacy organization focused on helping to create a compassionate, healthy and peaceful planet for all living beings.

OCPA has provided grants to support efforts to help promote plant-based diets, and guide future activists with outreach and technique.

EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS

ANIMAL PROTECTION

OCPA supported and helped facilitate the participation in various animal-related causes, initiatives, legislation, campaigns, and other events for the animals.

EDUCATION

OCPA strived to educate others about many animal issues - and guided them as they learned about what they could do to also help themselves, their families, and their communities.

PARTICIPATION AND OUTREACH

Whether an at-home "armchair activist" or someone who preferred to get out and about to help animals, OCPA encouraged others to get involved in whatever way worked best for them.

VOLUNTEERING

OCPA believed that sometimes the best way for people to feel like they were making a difference was to volunteer for a cause in which they felt passionate about and wanted to see improved.

HEALTHY PLANT-BASED DIETS

OCPA encouraged people to adopt a plant-based diet in order to experience optimal health and vitality - and to help end cruelty to farm animals and reduce the negative impacts of factory farming on the planet.

CONNECTING WITH OTHERS

There's nothing like collaborating and communicating with others who are on the same page; OCPA believed that when people came together and worked with other like-minded individuals, one person could make an even bigger difference for the animals.
